NEW DELHI: Team India on Tuesday suffered a major setback after their star opener
Shikhar Dhawan
was confirmed to have fractured his thumb in the match vs Australia, putting the left-hander’s further World Cup participation in doubt. Former India wicket-keeper and 1992 World Cupper,
Kiran More
feels India shouldn't panic as they have enough firepower in their squad for the mega tournament.

"Dhawan's injury is a huge loss to Indian team. But India shouldn't be worrying. They have players who can fit in well in the required slots," More told TimesofIndia.com in an exclusive interview.
"I know Shikhar is a big match player and has done well in ICC tournaments. My advice for Kohli will be to bring in
KL Rahul
as opener. He is the best option for the opening slot. He is the best man to replace Dhawan as an opener," More said.

Dhawan, who scored a brilliant 117 off 109 balls in India's 36-run win over Australia in their World Cup match at the Kennington Oval in London on Sunday, played through pain after being hit on the thumb by a rising delivery from pacer
Pat Cummins
.

Despite being in considerable pain, the 33-year-old carried on batting against the Aussies and propelled India to a big total.

Dhawan, who was adjudged Man of the Match for his valiant show, didn't take the field throughout the Australian innings due to the injury and Ravindra Jadeja fielded in his place for the entire 50 overs.
If Rahul opens, who will bat at Number 4 for India?

"Why not try (Dinesh) Karthik at No. 4?" According to More.

"For me, Karthik can do well at No. 4. He is the best suited for that position. He can bat, field and if needed can keep too. Virat should ask Rahul to open and take Karthik at No. 4 ," More said.

When asked whether Kohli can do what MS Dhoni did in 2011, More said: “It is too early to say. The tough roads are ahead for India. It’s a World Cup, anything can happen.”
