Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2019 Notification

JEE Advanced 2019 - Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee had released the JEE Advanced 2019 Exam Date. JEE Advanced 2019 exam will be held on May 19, 2019.


The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2019 [JEE (Advanced) 2019] will be conducted by the twenty-three (23) zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) 2019.


JEE Advanced 2019
  • Joint Admission Board (JAB) has announced the examination date and schedule of JEE Advanced 2019. IIT Roorkee will conduct JEE Advanced 2019 completely in online mode on 19th May 2019. The entrance exam will be a computer-based test (CBT) mode.
  • The JEE (Advanced) 2019 will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019. The entire JEE (Advanced) 2019 Examination will be conducted in fully computer-based test mode.
  • IIT Madras is the organizing institute of JEE (Advanced) 2019. Admission in Bachelor's, Integrated Master's and Dual Degree Programmes in the IITs and Indian School of Mines is offered through the IIT JEE Advanced

Academic Programs 2019
  • Through JEE (Advanced), IITs offer admission into undergraduate courses leading to a Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s or Bachelor-Master Dual Degree in Engineering, Sciences, or Architecture.
  • Both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees are awarded to candidates enrolled in the dual degree programs upon successful completion of the course curriculum. In a few of the IITs, students enrolled into the 4-year Bachelor’s Program have the option to convert to B. Tech (Honors) and/or B. Tech. with Minors


  • B. Tech (Bachelor of Technology) - 4 years
  • B.S. (Bachelor of Science) - 4 years
  • B. Arch (Bachelor of Architecture) - 5 years

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced 2019

  • All the candidates, including foreign nationals, must fulfill each and every one of the following five criteria to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2019
  • Eligibility Criteria for Indian Nationals (including PIO/OCI for Appearing in JEE (Advanced) 2019
Criterion 1 - Performance in JEE (Main) 2019:
  • Candidates should be among the top 2,24,000* (including all categories) in Paper-1 of JEE (Main) 2019
  • The percentages of various categories of candidates to be shortlisted are: 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and the remaining 50.5% is OPEN for all. Within each of these four categories, 5% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates.
  • The following table show the order to be followed while choosing top 2,24,000* candidates in various categories based on the performance in Paper-1 of JEE (Main) 2019.

Criterion 2 - Age Limit:
  • Candidates should have been born on or after 01st October 1993. 5 years relaxation is given to SC/ST and PwD candidates, i.e., these candidates should have been born on or after 01st October 1988

Criterion 3 - Number of Attempts:
  • A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years

Criterion 4 - Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) Exam:
  • A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2017 or 2019
  • However, if the exam Board of Class XII (or equivalent) declares the results for the academic year 2015-16 after June 2016, then the candidates of that board who appeared for their class XII exam in 2016 are also eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2019, provided they meet the other eligibility criteria
  • In case, the Exam Board of Class XII (or equivalent) declared the results for the academic year 2015-16 before June 2016 but the result of a particular candidate was withheld, then the candidate will not be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2019

Criterion 5 - Earlier admission at IITs:
  • A candidate should NOT have been admitted in an IIT irrespective of whether or not he/she continued in the program OR accepted an IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past. Candidates whose admission at IITs was cancelled after joining any IIT are also NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2019
  • Candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2017 can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2019.
  • The candidates who paid seat acceptance fee in 2017 but (i) did not report at any reporting centre OR, (ii) withdrew before the last round of seat allotment, OR, (iii) had their seat cancelled (for whatever reason) before the last round of seat allotment for IITs, during the joint seat allocation in 2017 are eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2019
  • However, in any of the above cases, the candidate is required to fulfil the conditions mentioned from criterion 1 to criterion 4

Reservation of Seats for JEE Advanced 2019

  • As per the rules of the Govt of India, candidates belonging to certain categories are admitted to seats reserved for them based on relaxed criteria. These categories are:
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC) if they belong to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL)
  • Scheduled Castes (SC) - 15%
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 7.5% of seats in every course
  • Persons with Disability (PwD) - 3% of seats in every category, viz., GEN, OBC NCL, SC/ST
  • Benefit of OBC (NCL), SC and ST reservation shall be given only to those classes/castes/tribes which are in the respective central list of corresponding states published by the Govt. of India
  • Candidates (belonging to OBC (NCL), SC/ST and PwD) who will be eligible to write JEE Advanced must upload the soft (scanned) copy of their certificate during the online registration
  • SC/ST Candidates: For candidates belonging to SC and ST categories, 15% and 7.5 seats, respectively, are reserved in every program in all IITs and ISM Dhanbad. Candidates belonging to these categories will be declared qualified on the basis of a relaxed criterion
  • OBC (NCL) Candidates: For candidates belonging to OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), 27% of the seats are reserved in all IITs, and ISM Dhanbad. For the purpose of reservation of seats in JEE Advanced, a candidates will be considered as OBC only in he/she belongs to the non-creamy layer of this category
  • Personas with Disability (PwD): In each institute 3% of seats in every category are reserved for Persons with Disability (PwD); for any type of disability (viz, locomotor, visual, dyslexia, speech, and / or hearing) benefit would be given those who have at least 40% physical impairment
  • Candidates who are Persons with Disability will be required to submit the original certificate issued by a district medical board/competent authority in the prescribed format at the time of admission
  • Preferential Allotment of Seats:Defence Service (DS) category candidates are children of defence / paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peacetime operations; two seats are available for preferential allotment in each Institute for DS category candidates
  • To avail of this preferential allotment, a DS category candidate must be in the Common Merit List of JEE (Advanced) 2019

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern
  • The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2019 will be conducted by the IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) 2019. The performance of a candidate in this exam will form the basis for admission to the Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree Programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the IITs
  • The decisions of the JAB 2019 will be final in all matters related to JEE (Advanced) 2019 and admission to IITs.
    • Session 1 [Paper-I: 19th May 2019 (Sunday, 09.00 to 12.00 IST)]
    • Session 2 [Paper-II: 19th May 2019 (Sunday, 14.00 to 17.00 IST)]
  • Both the papers are compulsory. The exam will be held in fully computer-based test mode.
  • The Exam consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, each of three hours duration and will be held as per the following schedule:
  • In JEE Advanced 2019, there will be two papers, each of three hours duration. The questions papers will be printed separately in English and Hindi
  • Candidates have to specify their choice of question paper language at the time of online registration for JEE Advanced 2019
  • Each of the question papers will consist of three separate parts in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • JEE Advanced 2019 questions will be of objective (multiple choice) type, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates
  • In some sections, incorrect answers may be awarded with negative marks
  • Candidates will be provided with a two page doublet of optical response sheet (ORS) for answering. The answers for each the questions are to be marked on the front page of the ORS by darkening the appropriate bubble/bubbles (as per instructions in the questions paper)
  • Candidates are directed to use black ballpoint pen only to darken the bubble(s) given as choices of answers to the questions
  • Candidates must strictly follow the instructions printed on the question paper for appropriate way of darkening the bubbles for valid answers
  • Papers: JEE Advanced examination comprises of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2
  • Duration: The duration of both exams will be three hours
  • Subjects: Both question paper will contain the three separate sections i.e., Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry

IIT JEE  Advanced Exam Centres 2019

  • Last year, the examination was held in many towns and cities of India as well as in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. At the time of filling online application form, the candidates can choose three cities/towns where he/she wants to take the exam
  • The examination centres are separated into seven IITs zones namely IIT Bombay Zone, IIT Delhi Zone, IIT Guwahati Zone, IIT Kanpur Zone, IIT Kharagpur Zone, IIT Madras Zone and IIT Roorkee Zone

JEE Advanced  2019 Registration

  • IIT JEE application form information is given below:
  • Candidates can register for JEE Advanced 2019 through online mode only. JEE Advanced 2019 Registration will be started from the 4th week of April 2019
  • Candidates will fill & submit the application form till the 01st week of May 2019.
  • No other mode will be entertained to get the JEE Advanced application form. During registration, candidates have to upload their scanned images in a given format
  • Keep the printout of the JEE Advanced Application Form 2019 for future use. Candidates fill the application form correctly, no correction will be allowed after form submission
